Is there really a hell fire?

Hell means (the grave/hades/gehenna)in revelation GOD says that satan will be tormented forever and ever(i think it could just mean being in darkness away from God's light,the angels and the people who don't make it out of the judgement of the book of life will also be there after the resurrected.
