What if oil ran out what would happen?

oil will never completely run out, but as it starts to run low, its price will go up and we will have to switch to lab made oil. the reason we dont do that now is that it costs more to make oil in the labs and to pull it out of the ground. once the price goes up, which is much much higher then it will be now, we will no long need oil from under ground or other nations.
