My pot roast is brown...?

I wanted to put my pot roast in the slow cooker this morning, but I'm not sure what to do. I put it in the freezer by the sell by date, and put it back in the fridge to start defrosting on Wednesday, but when I just took it out of the fridge, it's brown. Is it still good? Please only answer if you know it will be good or not.
