If a guy from Martinique emigrates from France to the U.S.; would he be considered as an an "african-american"?

... my parents are from Martinique , which is an island from the french Carribean; but I am born and lived in France (for almost 30 years...) ; now -because of the obvious growing racism, here, that colored people have to face more than ever- I am thinking about leaving one day for the U.S. , cause I've heard that there (in the U.S.) the african-american community is consolidated; and in relation to that, I wanted to know if a guy from Carribean descent would be easily integrated among african-americans,in any city (cause I've heard that "real" africans emigrating to the U.S. tended to be rejected by the african-americanns...) I just wanted to know, just to get a first idea of how it would be ...thank you in advance ...
