I need hair help. my hair is yellow.?

Naturally my hair is dark blonde. Like pretty dark but still blonde. I wanted to lighten my hair on a budget so I went out and bought lo'real blondissime hair lightening color or what ever. I did it and left it on for a good 40 45 minutes like it said and the top of my hair is like super warm golden yellow orange ish. NOT the color I was going for. I wanted more of a cool color, not white but lighter and all around whiter.. if you understand. Well underneath the dye didn't really work, so my hair is dark still with a red tink and the top is like yellow. So I went to a hair salon and the told me it would cost 175 to fix it. So basically I screwed my self over and I can't afford that right now. How in the world do I fix this with out my hair falling out or my wallet empty
